Getting Here-

The majority of visitors to Tiree use the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry service from Oban. They operate a 'roll on roll off' service for passengers with vehicles and foot passangers. For more details of the service visit the CalMac website.

In the summer, there is great demand for vehicle places on the ferry so early booking is recommended.

Loganair operate a regular air service from Glasgow Airport. The 45 minute flight is said to be one of the most spectacular air routes in Scotland with amazing views of western Scotland and the Isles. Hebridean Air Services also operate a service from Oban Airport- this only operates on Wednesdays.

Details of the Loganair service from Glasgow can be found here - and details of Hebridean Air Service flights from Oban can be found here.

Sunset campsite is located 7 miles from the ferry terminal in Scarinish and 5 miles from Tiree Airport in Crossapol.

Please check in within 2 hours of arriving onto the Island if possible.

Things to do-

Watersports: Blackhouse Watersports specialise in surf lessons, kitesurfing and equipment hire. They have their own beach hut on Balevullin beach- just 2 minutes from Sunset Campsite. The isle of Tiree is one of the beach surf destinations in the UK! It's the perfect place to learn how to surf with the many beautiful sandy beaches.

Cycling: Rent bikes from Tiree Fitness bike hire

Wildlife watching: Tiree is best known for its incredible range and abundance of birds. Its rich habitats are also home to a wide range of other wildlife from rare bumblebees to huge Basking Sharks.

Stargazing: Balevullin is a dedicated Dark Sky Discovery Site. We have ideal conditions for viewing the incredible night sky and if your lucky, might even see the Northern lights in the darker months.

The Croft-

Lorna and Karl created Sunset Campsite & Pods which are based on their croft in Balevullin. This is a family run project we've been working on for a while and just opened the campsites doors in Spring 2023. The croft is also home to hebridean sheep, a few chickens, cats, a dog and an abundance of wildlife.

We are passionate about where we live and want to share our beautiful corner of the world with you.
